LIENIP is Granted Special Consultative Status with ECOSOC

By the decision made at Substantive Session of ECOSOC in July 2007, L’auravetl’an Information and Education Network of Indigenous Peoples was granted Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.

NGO in consultative status can send their representatives to attend sessions of ECOSOC and its subsidiary bodies, as well as to submit written statements relevant to the work of the Council. They also can consult with the Secretariat of the United Nations on the issues of mutual interest. NGOs in consultative status with ECOSOC can be considered as partners for consultations on politics and programs, as important links between the UN and civil society.
