Льыоравэтльан - ''Correctly from the point of view of law, with respect to others, but with all our strength to fight for human rights''

This phrase was one of the main said by I. Zhmakov, Plenipotentiary on Human Rights in Krasnoyarsky Kray, during the meeting with the trainees of Krasnoyarsk Center, which was held on 5 October in the framework of the training course “Education in the Field of Human Rights, Rights of Indigenous Peoples”. General discussion referred to the possibility of passing the new law “About Plenipotentiary on Human Rights in Krasnoyarsky Kray”, which is intended to provide a new institution of the Plenipotentiary on Rights of Indigenous Peoples – Deputy Plenipotentiary on Human Rights in Krasnoyarsky Kray. The trainees unanimously supported the necessity to establish such an institution and drew up an appeal to the Permanent Committee on Lawfulness and Protection of Human Rights of the Legislative Assembly of Krasnoyarsky Kray, which will discuss this bill at the meeting on 8 October. The meeting will be attended by a representative of the trainees of Krasnoyarsk Center, who will present the position of indigenous peoples on this issue.

Moreover, Innokenty Zhmakov informed about establishment of the position of Plenipotentiary on Human Rights on the territory of Taimyr Dolgano-Nenets Municipal Region, who will protect rights of all the population of Taimyr, ¼ of whom are indigenous peoples of the North.
Thus it is supposed that these two new positions will provide additional possibilities for protection of rights of indigenous peoples of Taimyr.
Besides, Innokenty Zhmakov explained some details of functioning of the European Court of Human Rights. The trainees discussed adoption of the UN Declaration on Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
The trainees were satisfied with the meeting, the issues discussed, communication with Innokenty Yegorovich Zhmakov. After the meeting the interns worked up an appeal to the Plenipotentiary on Human Rights in Krasnoyarsky Kray regarding the situation with protection of rights of indigenous peoples in Taimyr, which will be submitted to the Apparatus of the Plenipotentiary.
