Today in the Legislative Meeting of Krasnoyarsky Kray the members of the Permanent Commission on the North and indigenous affairs, Vasily Nechayev and Lyudmila Kaplina, held the session of “the round table” with the participants of a training course “Education in the field of human rights and rights of indigenous peoples”.

In the discussion of the problems of the North and indigenous peoples the following participants took part: assistant professor of Land and Ecological Law department of Krasnoyarsk State Agrarian University, expert of the Association of the Towns of Siberia and the Far East Svetlana Grinberg, director of the Center of Informational Support of Indigenous Peoples of Krasnoyarsky Kray Yelena Nechushkina, member of the Community of Indigenous Peoples of Taymyr “Baltchut” Lyudmila Sotnikova, member of the Association of Indigenous Peoples of Taymyr Valeria Savran, head of the tribal community “Daasi”, member of public organization “Union of Dolgans” Darya Nabiulina, not established contributor of the Taymyr newspaper Evgenia Sidelnikova and other participants.
The problems, discussed during “the round table”, touched the legislative provision of the issues related to accessibility of education for indigenous youth, organizing and functioning of farms and other forms of enterprise in northern regions, support of development of traditional economy of indigenous population, etc.
Vasily Nechayev informed the participants of “the round table” about the activities of the Legislative Meeting of Krasnoyarsky Kray regarding indigenous peoples of the North. He stated that the expert-legal service of the Parliament of Krasnoyarsky Kray is ready to provide necessary legal assistance in preparation of the bills on the issues of development of the peoples of the North and indigenous peoples.
The director of the Center of Informational Support of Indigenous Peoples of Krasnoyarsky Kray Yelena Nechushkina told about the work of interregional public organization “L’auravetl’an Information and Education Network of Indigenous People” and Krasnoyarsk Center of Informational Support of Indigenous Peoples of Krasnoyarsky Kray.
Having exchanged their opinions, the participants of “the round table’ agreed to meet after 1 January 2007, when the law about forming the single subject of the Russian Federation consisting of Krasnoyarsky Kray, Taymyr and Evenkya will come into force.
