Training course in Information Center of Indigenous Peoples of the Altai Republic ''Birlik''

Regional public organization Information Center of Indigenous Peoples of the Altai Republic “Birlik” from 25 September to 27 October 2006 is carrying out the training course “Education in the field of human rights and rights of indigenous peoples” in Gorno-Altaisk, Altai Republic.

The participants of the training course are the following:
1. Yulia Kolchegosheva, Teleut, female, programmer, Belovo, Kemerovskaya Oblast
2. Altynai Isakova, Altai-Kizhi, female, unemployed, Gorno-Altaisk, Altai Republic
3. Olga Taymacheva, Tubalar, female, student
4. Svetlana Yurkina, Tubalar, female, unemployed, Gorno-Altaisk

On the training course the interns have already studied international, federal legislation on human rights, rights of indigenous peoples, the Constitution of the Russian Federation and the Constitution of the Altai Republic, international mechanisms of protection of human rights, judicial and non-judicial mechanisms of protection of human rights.
Moreover, they took part in the session of the State Meeting – El Kurultai of the Altai Republic of the 4th assembly.
On the meeting with the former intern of “Birlik”, now the expert on Territories of Nature under Special Protection of the Committee on Natural Resources, Environment Protection and Tourism, Alena Maikova, the interns learned about the situation of the Territories of Nature under Special Protection.
A lot of interesting and useful things about federal target programs and regional bills related to indigenous peoples the interns knew from the meeting with the head of the department of development of municipal units and indigenous peoples, Gennady Aildashev.
Innokenty Tengerekov told them about Turkic world and history of the Altai Republic.
Now the participants of the training course are learning to use a computer.
