Vanda Patenko, vice-premier of the Karelia Republic declared that Karelian Authorities had promised to consider the possibility to get the indigenous representatives of the republic involved in the work at governmental bodies more actively.
The effect was achieved by the statement of Karelian national organizations representatives who reproached the Karelian Authorities that they did not assign national personnel to executive positions.
"Fewer indigenous representatives are working at the governmental bodies at all levels. The explanation that there are no talented or trained Karelians or Veps is not the fact. This begs the question of what is the real cause of the situation," declared Viktor Bogdanov, head of "Karelian People Unity" national organization.
